Andy Serkis Finds A New Precious With The Upcoming Venom 2

What happens when you mix one of the most talented actors in fantasy/sci-fi fiction and one of the deadliest alien entities in the multiverse? A kickass sequel (most probably).

It appears that Andy Serkis has stepped up to the plate to direct Venom 2, the sequel to the 2018 Sony Pictures movie about the iconic alien symbiote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this was revealed when Serkis reportedly flew to Los Angeles in late July to meet with the folks at Sony to discuss the potential new project.

Serkis then confirmed his role as director earlier this week, as he posted a photo on social media of himself sporting a copy of Venom: Lethal Protector, exclaiming how he “can’t wait” to get cracking on his new project with Marvel and Sony.

Serkis’ experience with CGI and motion capture (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes, Star Wars Episodes VII & VIII), as well as stints in the MCU (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Panther) have most definitely set him up for this new role. This will be his third directorial role, having done Breathe (2017), and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018).

(Right) Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock in Venom 2.

Reprising his role as Eddie Brock for Venom 2 will be Tom Hardy, and we’ll also most likely see Woody Harrelson return as Cletus Kasady/Carnage, who was revealed in a post-credits scene in the first movie.
